Invisible Children fights against the use of child soldiers in central Africa
Invisible Children, which seeks to stop the abduction of children for use as child soldiers in central Africa, is a growing nonprofit with international operations that needed a solution to manage fundraising, event planning, program management and marketing. They wanted an easier way to manage campaigns and provide updates to their supporters, and it was difficult for them to find and share information using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Kintera.
While they considered Raiser’s Edge and Kintera, Invisible Children chose Salesforce as their solution for its robust features and easy customization. They rolled out Salesforce CRM in 1 month to 80 event planning and operations employees; built an inventory system using Force.com to oversee hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual merchandise sales; automated their event registration with a custom tool; built dynamic web sites that are automatically updated with real-time data from current programs; and built a powerful new program app called the LRA Tracker — a real-time mapping platform and data collection system created to bring an unprecedented level of transparency to the atrocities of the Lord’s Resistance Army in central Africa.
Through Salesforce, Invisible Children has gained access to real-time business data that has improved their planning and allowed for greater organizational efficiency. Analytical features such as reports and dashboards provide granular data such as which campaign drew the greatest number of responses. And with the development of the LRA Tracker website and iPhone App, they are using the Force.com platform to raise awareness and achieve their mission in powerful new ways.
