STEM Workshop with Agastya International Foundation

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education brought to children in a interdisciplinary and applied approach coupled with real-world problem solving and application.
STEM Education is increasingly becoming a focus around the world because every child’s future and each country’s future will be shaped by these four important disciplines of study. However, whilst much will be determined through STEM, the core or foundation lies in the art of imparting knowledge and the heart to help each other.
When our Salesforce.com employees turn into volunteers to keep this foundation strong, we are certainly a force to reckoned with.
Last month, Salesforce employees in Hyderabad had a really great opportunity to support STEM education during a workshop held at DESIRE Society in association with Agastya International Foundation. What made this volunteering event so special was the opportunity to facilitate and support STEM education for 75 brave kids fighting HIV or loneliness (orphaned kids). Our volunteers spent time with the kids to help them understand about STEM subjects and assisted them in building various science models, including an electric motor, an electromagnetic coil and whistle blowers from straws.
Our volunteers also learned a few new things in science. It was a day well spent to bring smiles and ignite minds.
The event coincided with the announcement of Salesforce.com’s Centre of Excellence at Hyderabad and it couldn’t have been a better start for a great long journey.
