Proud to Partner with San Francisco and Oakland Schools to Improve Computer Science Education

It is back to school time and Salesforce.org is helping to ensure the new school year will include computer science education for more students in the communities where we live and work.
Today, Salesforce.org is excited to announce an $8.5 million donation to public schools in San Francisco and Oakland! The funding is part of the fourth consecutive year of our partnership with San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) and Mayor Ed Lee, as well as a new partnership with Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) and Mayor Libby Schaaf, to improve computer science education.
“We have already seen the impact of Salesforce.org’s investment in our school district through improved test scores and a higher level of student engagement,” said San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee. “This partnership between Salesforce.org and SFUSD continues to shape the next generation of San Francisco’s leaders, scientists, artists and innovators.”
“I am thrilled to partner with Saleforce.org to offer more opportunities for Oakland students and teachers. As a result of the partnership, the number of students with access to computer science classes, more personalized math instruction, and college and career support will dramatically increase,” said Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.
At Salesforce, giving back is not just about monetary donations. In addition to the funding, Salesforce employees will volunteer 20,000 hours in Bay Area schools during the 2016-2017 school year. We also plans to adopt 26 schools in San Francisco and Oakland, and an additional 19 others around the world during the 2016-2017 school year. Giving back is part of who we are and we empower our employees with seven days of Volunteer Time Off (VTO) per fiscal year.
Today, we kicked off the partnership with a fun event at Frick Impact Academy in Oakland with Salesforce Chairman & CEO Marc Benioff, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, San Francisco Mayor Lee, Oakland Superintendent Wilson, Interim Superintendent Myong Leigh and the Frick Impact Academy student body.
