It’s that time again! We’re ready to start accepting session proposals for Dreamforce ‘17. We can’t wait to see all of your amazing session ideas and put together a program showcasing all of the innovation happening in the nonprofit, higher ed, and K-12 communities.

Speaking at Dreamforce is a fantastic opportunity (and doesn’t look bad on your resume, either), but we have a limited number of sessions available. So here are some tips for making your submission stand out:

1. First off, if you’re a nonprofit, higher ed, or K-12 Salesforce customer, make sure to submit to the Salesforce.org Call for Sessions not the general Dreamforce Call for Sessions*.

2. Details, details, details. When it comes to session proposals, there’s no such thing as TMI. We want to know about your organization or institution, your role, how you’re using Salesforce, what your presentation will cover, why it will be awesome, and anything else you think will be helpful.

3. Be specific. That said, you should keep in mind that you will only have 20-40 minutes to present (depending on the session format), so pick a specific, focused topic that you can cover in that amount of time.

4. Focus on results. How has your organization or institution transformed with the help of technology? What’s your “before and after” story? Do you have specific KPIs or metrics that you’ve improved?

5. Note our areas of interest. We’d love to hear about anything you’re doing with Salesforce, but there are some general areas we know we want sessions for:

  • Nonprofit: Program Management, Fundraising, Marketing & Engagement, Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), Organization-Wide Platform (multiple Salesforce use cases across your organization)
  • Higher Ed: Recruiting & Admissions, Student Success, Advancement & Alumni Relations, Marketing Communications, HEDA (Higher Education Data Architecture), Campus-Wide CRM (unified student data leveraged by multiple departments/offices)
  • K-12: Admissions & Enrollment, Student Success, Fundraising, Student/Parent Communications & Collaboration, Connected Platform (multiple Salesforce use cases across your school or district)

6. Extra points for live demos. People go to Dreamforce to see real technology in action. We highly encourage you to include a live demonstration of your solution as part of your presentation.

7. Keep it to two presenters max. Don’t submit more than 2 speakers for your session, unless you’re proposing a panel discussion rather than a presentation, in which case you can have up to 3.

8. Submit different proposals separately. If you have multiple ideas, feel free to submit multiple times. But please don’t propose multiple session ideas in one submission.

9. Think big. Be creative. Dreamforce is not your typical tech conference. So don’t be afraid to think outside the box with your session topic and content. There’s a big focus this year on thought leadership, which is just a fancy way of saying that you should think about not just how you’re using Salesforce, but also how that relates to the bigger picture of your organization’s evolution and trends in the industry.

The Call for Proposals closes on July 26, 2017 and all speakers will be notified of their session status by the beginning of September.
