The Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) Community Contributor Highlights – Meet Christian Carter

By June 15, 2016

“The Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) Community Contributor Highlights” blog series features a NPSP community member every month to showcase the many ways the community is getting involved with NPSP.

Christian CarterGive us a little background on who you are.
My name is Christian Carter, and I am a Salesforce MVP and Consultant at Bigger Boat Consulting. I originally came to Salesforce as a user, selling tickets using the PatronManager managed package. I discovered the Power of Us HUB and that’s when things really started clicking for me. I started studying for certifications, using the NPSP to study! Now, I’m a full time Salesforce professional, consulting to nonprofits in the housing and human services sectors.

Why do you contribute to the Nonprofit Starter Pack?
I contribute to the Nonprofit Starter Pack because of the 10,000+ customers who are actively using the package! Knowing that every feature that goes into the NPSP could help thousands of nonprofits and potentially help raise millions of dollars for charitable causes is pretty compelling.

What contribution are you most proud of?
My proudest contribution to the NPSP was making it so that custom fields used in Household Naming specifications now automatically refresh when those fields are changed on the Contact. I had the pleasure of grabbing a conference room with Christopher McCullough from Percolator and we sat down and worked together on bringing a simple but NEEDED feature into the codebase. My favorite part of working on the NPSP is how community driven it is, I love that I can grab another partner and create something cool in this community.
