Festival of Code 2015

There is going to be a whole lot of coding happening in Salesforce Tower later this month!

As a ‘Centre’ for the Young Wired State’s Festival of Code 2015, 20 children from across the UK will take to the Tower getting the chance to experiment with the latest technologies, carry out a number of coding projects and be mentored by some of Salesforce’s finest!

During the week, coders will be challenged to develop something innovative, making use of one source of Open Data, in a bid to blow away the spectators at the showcase event in Birmingham that weekend! Teams are tasked with developing something that can potentially solve real world problems and improve their communities.

Festival of Code 2015With the introduction of computer programming into the UK national curriculum in September 2014, the Festival of Code in 2015 is set to be bigger than ever. Up to 2,000 young coders from 100 locations across the UK are expected to attend the weekend showcase. As well as competition heats, organisers are transforming Festival Saturday into a Makerspace extravaganza, and running sponsored Challenges throughout the day!

The Festival of Code started out in 2009 as a weekend hack event for 50 young, self-taught coders. Every year since then, the flagship summer event has grown in size and scale. In 2014 over 1,200 young people from the UK, USA, Germany and Kosovo came together for a full week of digital making fun.
