#DFGives: Making Technology Affordable and Accessible to Everyone

Next Thing Co. is a group of artists, engineers, and educators working in West Oakland to make technology affordable and accessible to everyone.
We make PocketC.H.I.P., an open source handheld computer that helps kids learn how to program. Using pre-installed game development software called PICO-8, kids can play hundreds of community created games and learn programing by hacking them. Each and every game is open source software and fully editable on PocketC.H.I.P.! Everything from the game engine, to graphics, to sound effects, and music are hackable. With PocketC.H.I.P. and PICO-8, programming is the ultimate cheat code.
At Next Thing Co. we are committed to Open Source Hardware and Open Source Software. We believe that everyone should have access to technology and the information on how to make it. We encourage our users to disassemble, modify, and share their PocketC.H.I.P. projects so that we can all learn from each other.
