Community Hero Erika Applebaum

By Salesforce.org August 12, 2014

“I’ll never be able to give back more than the community has given me! I want to pay it forward by helping other users anyway I can. It’s just what the Salesforce community does!”
– Erika Applebaum

Erika ApplebaumWe are celebrating the one year anniversary of the Power of Us HUB by recognizing 30 community members who have been instrumental in supporting the growing community of nonprofit and higher ed Salesforce users.

Today’s community hero is Erika Applebaum (@ErikaApplebaum), Executive Director at Acesse Foundation, a corporate Foundation that aims to fight hunger, poverty, and injustice by making donations to charitable organizations with similar ideals. Prior to joining Acesse, Erika was the Executive Director at the Innocence Project of Minnesota and a co-leader of the Salesforce Twin Cities Nonprofit User Group. When you work for a small, but mighty, organization with limited resources it can be especially difficult to make the time to participate in the community, so we are truly appreciative of Erika’s efforts. THANK YOU Erika!

Who are you (in 250 words or less)?

“I recently changed jobs and now work for a corporate foundation. I spent the last 12 years working at a nonprofit. I am an accidental techie at heart and love using technology to boost productivity.”

How long have you been working with Salesforce products?

“Since 2010.”

What quick tip would you give someone getting started with Salesforce?

“Don’t just add fields because it’s so easy to do. Make sure you actually need the data and make sure you are using the most appropriate type of field to get the most accurate information in the most efficient way possible.”

As a thank-you for all Erika has done for the community over the last year, the Foundation is donating $250 to a nonprofit of her choosing.
