Celebrating 10+ Years at Salesforce by Giving Back

By Jamie Olsen April 19, 2015

Volunteers assemble kits Last month, Salesforce hosted its annual gathering of over 500 Koa Club members, employees that have been with the company for 10 years or more, to celebrate their amazing work in making Salesforce what it is today.

Since giving back has been an integral part of our culture since day one, there was no question that volunteering would be a key part of the festivities. Hundreds of employees canvassed the city to volunteer with some of our amazing nonprofit partners:

  • Everett Middle School
  • Aptos Middle School
  • Rooftop Middle School
  • Presidio Middle School
  • Stop Hunger Now
  • Family House
  • UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital

The group that visited the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital got a tour of the new state of the art facilities, then assembled art kits and hygiene kits for the patients and their families. They also got a visit from one of the hospital’s therapy dogs!

Many of the Koa Club volunteers took time to help out in local middle school classrooms. Cheryl Porro, SVP of Tech & Products for, said “a great group of Koa Clubbers crushed this unused science lab at Everett Middle School. I wish I got a before picture because it was a mess! Now kids can use the lab!”

At Salesforce, volunteering in our communities happens much more often than on this special day to celebrate those who have been with the company for 10 years or more. Each employee is given six days of paid Volunteer Time Off per fiscal year to volunteer with an organization of their choice. Once an employee reaches 48 hours of volunteering, they also receive a $1,000 Champion Grant to donate to the organization(s) of their choice.

Thank you to all the Koa Club members for everything you’ve done over the past 10+ years to give back to the communities where we live and work!
