10 Highlights from the Community This Month

The HubCap is an overview of the top 10 highlights from the online community, the Power of Us Hub, including product updates, best practices, events, and conversations. The goal of the HubCap is to share content that helps you meet your goals, engage with the community, and achieve more with Salesforce. Let’s review July’s top highlights from the community and look at what’s coming up in August.

New product documentation resources, including groups, topics, and documentation, are now available in the Hub! Check out the newest resources for the Outbound Funds Module, Grants Management, and Elevate.

2. Highlights of the Summer ‘20 Release Resources

Stay in the loop on the new Summer ‘20 Release updates specific to nonprofit and education organizations. Join the New Release Readiness group to ask questions, watch the webinar recording, and stay in the loop on upcoming release webinars.

3. Getting Started Landing Pages

These pages provide a prescriptive path to success for you as you acclimate to or expand your use of Salesforce. 4. K-12 Trailhead Trail

Introducing the first trail for K-12 customers: Administer Salesforce for K-12 Educational Institutions! This new trail introduces Salesforce admins to the fundamentals of K-12 Architecture Kit and prepares them to configure, implement, and leverage Salesforce in K-12 districts and schools. 5. Ask a Nonprofit & Education Expert

Ask a Nonprofit Expert sessions are hosted every Wednesday in three different time zones. Find an upcoming session on the Customer Success calendar here. Hosted by experts, join the weekly open Q&A sessions to get your questions answered in an informal, friendly, fun setting.

9. Community Spotlight: Haley Gould, Director, CRM and Engagement Services, Smith College

How does it feel to receive the Community Champion Award (Higher Ed Summit 2020)?

Is this real life? I am so honored to receive this award, especially since it is voted on by the community, my peers, and friends. This award has reinvigorated me and led to so much love from the Community—thank you everyone!

Why is community important to you? What motivates you to contribute?

Community is at the core of what we foster on our campuses and that spirit definitely spills over into our Salesforce community! Now in my role and daily life, I am motivated to grow my network and to learn about innovative ways to implement Salesforce; I like to reach out to those who are tackling similar issues and reach out!

In the age of COVID, it can be really hard to connect to the community around you in the same way as we would have in-person at Higher Ed Summit or Dreamforce. Make sure to still make time for this in whatever way you feel most comfortable–attend webinars, strike up a conversation in the Power of Us Hub, Twitter, etc. I hope anyone reading this feels free to reach out to me and reconnect or make a new friend!

10. Community Spotlight: Paul Ginsberg, Founder, Golden Hoodie, Salesforce Evangelist

How did you get involved in the community?

Paul Ginsberg, FounderI was working in the UK for a charity as a Salesforce Admin and I heard, via LinkedIn, that there was a new Admin User Group being launched. At the first meeting, I met fellow enthusiasts and realised that they, too, shared my passion and joy. As a bonus I found it a “safe space” where everyone was kind and supportive, so it enabled me to practice my (then) awkward social skills. Just over two years later I moved to another country. There was no established Admin group, so I went on to set one up, to help share best practice and to create an environment for people to share their real world experiences with one another.

What motivates you to contribute?

Enabling others to go on their journey in the Salesforce ecosystem is hugely rewarding. I usually also learn a thing or two, particularly from “newbies”, because of their different perspectives.

I love sharing knowledge. For me, it’s frustrating to reinvent the wheel–there are so many better things to be doing. Beyond the community group network, if I discover something new, I often write it down as a blog article. From there, it becomes an aide-memoire for myself, and others can benefit from it too.

We need your input on a global survey that we are conducting in partnership with the Urban Institute’s Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy. The findings will be shared in the next version of our Nonprofit Trends report, which will be made publicly available in the fall.
